“Poppa” John grew up in the footsteps of his father, “Poppa” John Sr., who was also a drummer. As a child he absorbed plenty of the Chuck Berry, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash his dad would listen to on his reel to reel machine (not to mention the polkas!), but it wasn’t until he saw the video for “Live Wire” by Motley Crue that the young drummer finally got serious about the drums. After moving to Pittsburgh in 1991, and having been in MANY metal bands in his day, PJT met up with Bucky Goldstein, and while hanging out at the coffee shop Bucky worked at, the pair decided to record the country demos Bucky had been working on. For the first time, “Poppa” John had found a band that combined all his musical likes, from Johnny Cash to Van Halen, and the two have been together ever since, making records just like they did the first time they stepped into Dave World Studios in 1999.
